Since 1959, the RBA has for mandate to maintain the stability of the currency stability, full employment and “the economic prosperity and welfare of the people of Australia”.

Since 1993, the definition of price stability is a rise in prices in a range from 2% to 3 % year-on-year over the medium term (index: Consumer Price Index, quarterly updated).
